"Kaiser Karl" and LVMH's Bernard Arnault organized one the most expensive and innovative runway shows the world has ever seen. With 1500 miles of catwalk, the Great Wall was the perfect setting for Fendi's Spring 2008 fashion show, which featured a collection of over eighty new and vintage Fendi ensembles. The highlighted color scheme was red and black, which made for a grand, yet colorful display. Euro-Trance music echoed as over 500 socialites, industry insiders, and fashion elite gathered around sunset to view the line including Kate Bosworth, Thandie Newton, Ziyi Zhang, Bathing Ape designer Nigo, NYC socialite Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, and many more fashionistas and fashionistes. Guests sat on logo printed seats and were given complimentary designer hand warmers and haute chocolate before being whisked off to a nearby village to attend an exclusive outdoor dinner and after-party.

The Great Wall, which took over 300,000 men to build, was a costly venue as Fendi is said to have spent a year in negotiations and over $10 million dollars for the event. The clothes were haute and the show was more than memorable. Fendi is going down in history.

Lagerfeld made his usual grand entrance in his usual blazer, but the show was far from that. What's next? The moon maybe.
